CURRICULUM THEMES: YEAR 2016-2017

Foundation Stage Comment

In April 2017 the government revised the EYFS Framework for all Nursery and Reception age children. At Woodhall School the Foundation Stage staff work together with parents to give children a broad range of knowledge and skills to enable the children to make good progress towards reaching their early learning goals. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and practitioners look carefully at each child consider their needs, their interests and their stages of development and use this information to plan challenging and enjoyable experiences across all seven areas of learning. Children learn through planned purposeful play, with a balance of adult led and child led activities and play. As children grow older and as development allows the balance will shift towards more activities led by adults to help children prepare for the more formal learning in Year 1.

** Please note Foundation Stage themes are liable to be more flexible because we will follow the children’s interest to ensure they are engaged in and enjoy learning.
